Workshop sobre Fragilidad avalado por la SEMEG

15 Octubre 2018

Welcome to the second edition of the Frailty Workshop.

The first one, held in 2016, draw important take home messages:

  • Health systems were not ready for the transversal approach that frailty needs
  • Health models should aim for disease and disability prevention.
  • An integrated and global system needs to be implemented.

Two years later, much remains to be done. Frailty still offers a significant window of opportunity to reduce the burden of disability in our ageing societies, reduce associated healthcare costs, and improve quality of life.

The FACET consortium is working on a holistic and transversal approach to frailty management. We have created new tools to prevent, monitor and better manage frailty.

On the one hand, a system that facilitates prevention, identifying groups at risk of developing frailty in the working population.

On the other hand, a system customized for frailty, integrated with home sensor devices that allow continuous monitoring of the patient at home. It allows healthcare professionals to effectively and closely manage the frail patient, and provide personalized nutritional and exercise recommendations.

In addition, a biomarker panel will allow objective and accurate monitoring of changes in dietary patterns associated with frailty risk.

We look forward to seeing you in Madrid!
